2025 Season
The Hill County Conservation District is a proud participant of the MACD pollinator program, passing out free wildflower seeds to our community to beautify our county and support native and production pollinators. All the species we distribute are native to our area and specialized for our Hi-Line climate.
Our mixes come in 100 square foot and 1500 square foot packs. Additionally, we have individual packets for Showy Milkweed and Yucca.
Our program starts May 1st! Check out our distribution schedule below or on our Facebook page.

Seed Shallow
Native wildflowers only need to be seeded ⅛ to ¼ inch into the soil. For smaller beds running your hands over the surface of the soil or a light raking should be enough. For larger spaces a roller is all that’s needed to ensure seed to soil contact.
Know your Sprouts
Is that seedling what you’re waiting for or a sneaky weed? Check what’s growing using an ID app like Seek.
Prune, don’t Pull
Many of our native plants may look dead in the Fall but they’re still going underground! Lightly prune dead material but leave roots alone to ensure your plants resprout in the Spring.
Wildflowers Take Time
Most species in our mixes may take one to two years to produce their first blooms depending on conditions. Prep and water your beds for faster growth or leave them be to let the plants develop on their own time.
